“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.’
It’s our planet, our home, the place where our children and great great grandchildren will raise their families. Yet, we tend to live as though resources are endless and our impact is minimal. Undeniably, it’s hard for a business to operate without the use of packaging and plastics, but we are endeavouring to do everything we can to lessen our carbon footprint from minimal transportation with our cattle and the recycling of water on our farm to the phasing out of plastic.
If we understand how to take care of our bodies by eating well, exercising regularly, and ensuring we receive adequate sleep, then we know that nurturing our external environment is just as important. The health of the environment that surrounds us — the air, soil, water and ecosystems – must align with our internal ecosystems.
In a world of big business and fast and over-processed foods, we’re a small family, rooted in tradition, trying to bring back the good ol’ days.
Sharing new initiatives and products to help reduce, re-use and recycle.
- Effective immediately, plastic bags are being phased out and paper bags are going to be available for $0.05. Better yet, why not use a reusable bag or bring your own?
- Bring in your own coffee mug and save $0.50 on your hand-crafted beverage. Or you can buy one of the reusable travel mugs that we have on hand!
- Reusable water bottles
- Reusable sponge cloths
- Reusable bowl covers
Did you know that our ‘nose to tail’ philosophy has our butchers and staff trained to waste as little as possible? What doesn’t qualify for our fresh meat case is used in our deli products and home-meal replacement program. And then, whatever doesn’t qualify here is used in our raw dog food.
We use proper recycling practices and Earth Smart cleaning products. To top it off, even in our bathrooms Dyson blowers are used… goodbye paper towel!
We promise to keep making changes!
