LETTUCE WRAPS
INGREDIENTS:
For the filling:
- 1 lb of our ground beef
- 1/2 red onion, minced
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
For the sauce:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp lime juice
- 2 tsp brown sugar
For serving:
- 1 head butter lettuce, cleaned and separated
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a medium bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, ginger, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and brown sugar. Set aside. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat mixture to the skillet and cook, stirring continually for about 6-8 minutes, until the beef is mostly browned and cooked.
Add the julienned carrots, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, and the prepared sauce to the skillet. Continue to stir-fry everything for about 3-4 minutes, ensuring everything is well combined and the sauce begins to reduce. Remove the filling from heat and set aside. Prepare the lettuce leaves and set them on a plate. Fill each lettuce leaf with the filling mixture. Alternatively, serve the filling and lettuce leaves separately and allow guests to assemble their own lettuce wraps. Enjoy!
